Seed Bank, Seed processing centre and FGRM Nursery
The institute has a well-established seed bank in order to facilitate ex-situ conservation of forestry seeds. In the perspective of biodiversity conservation and to conduct storage trials on seeds the seed bank is equipped with three walk-in store cool chambers for large-scale storage facility. A deep freezer and a refrigerator also serve as storagedevices for maintaining very low temperature ranges upto -5 degree C.
Seed Processing CentreSeeds are processed, extracted, graded and tested for their germination
FGRM NurseryThe FGR species are vegetatively multiplied using stem cuttings or grafting and seedlings are raised in mother beds and maintained until field planting
Characterization labThe FGR species are characterized for active principles and molecular markers aid conservation.
Documentation labThe information about FGRs are compiled and updated for networking |
